Brimbank Council Rabbit Control Program - Keilor Park Recreation Reserve
Keilor Park Soccer Club has been notified that the Brimbank City Council will be conducting a rabbit baiting program on the soccer fields that form part of the Council owned land at Keilor Park Recreation Reserve, Stadium Drive, Keilor Park.
This will take place between Monday 9th February 2009 and Tuesday 31st March 2009.
All exit and entry points will be clearly signed.
The Poison that will be used is Pindone. The poison will be spread using carrots and will be laid randomly across the open space. Unrestrained pets are at risk if they eat poisoned carrots or rabbits so pet owners are asked to be diligent during this period. The antidote for this poison is Vitamin K1 which is available at all vets (vets in the area have been notified by Council of the baiting program).
Council is carrying out this baiting program after recognising that rabbits are having a detrimental effect on native vegetation and the parkland.
Council apologises for any inconvenience; however all landowners (public and private) have a legal responsibility under the Catchment and Land Protection Act to control rabbits and other pest animals on their land.
Contractors will inspect the area daily and will remove the affected rabbits.
